Tasty Wave Coastal Winery & Surf Shop: a sanctuary for surf, wine, and ocean conservation. Inspired by Northwest Pacific Native American art and their deep connection to nature, we champion a sustainable culture where the love for the sea meets the craft of the vine.

As a combination winery and surf shop, Tasty Wave is the spot to relax. Catch a glass of the good stuff after you've caught your last wave. It's the essential post-sesh chill.

THE STORY

Initial Concepting

This project originally started as an exercise in my associate graphic design course. We were tasked to design a seltzer can or wine bottle based on a name we were randomly assigned to.

My goal was to capture a fun retro aesthetic with a modern twist.

A change of scope

In my graphic design portfolio class, I wanted to expand on this project. There was an opportunity to look deeper and build a fully comprehensive brand.

Research & Ideation

In rebranding Tasty Wave, I went through many rounds of research. The process taught me a critical lesson: extensive research must inform not only the concept but also the execution.

Developing and understanding a brand’s goal is critical in creating branding that represents a company’s mission and values.

Designing with a Purpose

During another session of research on the pacific coast I stumbled upon artwork of the Pacific Native American peoples. The art is very earthy and invokes a deep spiritual connection to the land and the ocean.

By taking inspiration from style of this art, the brand pays tribute to the core values of the native peoples of the region.
